Kingdom of Maria

Regnum Mariae

The “Kingdom of Maria” is the first major project of Novum Byzantium. We aim to use the genre of “media hack” with the goal of challenging, criticizing or just mocking the homogeneously self-important but all so childish world of politics. We use a fictional state to create an independent, neutral and critical example of how states and politicians could and probably should communicate. (Here are some examples of what we would love to fight against.) What is Maria like? Imagine country which is fully independent since its creation 500 years ago, took part in no wars (other than her civil wars), was never colonized, occupied nor destroyed by treaties, was never forced to adopt a political or social system crafted by foreign great powers, adopted changes by her own pace, including industrialization and was never hit by the worst plague of the western world, the devastating, egoistic, selfish, all-consuming nihilism.
